Nick Cave collaborators and former UNKLE band members Toydrum have scored the film.

Alice Lowe’s gruesome new horror film about a pregnant female serial killer, Prevenge, hits UK cinemas on Friday (February 10) and we’ve got a glimpse of the unnerving, synth-heavy soundtrack ahead of its release.

The movie has been scored by Brighton-based duo Toydrum, who formed in 2011 by UNKLE band members Pablo Clements and James Griffith. Clements and Griffith wrote and produced music for Shane Meadows’ This Is England ’90 in 2015 and last month released a track with Nick Cave and Warren Ellis.

Prevenge marks the directorial debut for actor and screenwriter Alice Lowe – who some of you will know from her role as Madeleine Wool in cult British horror parody TV series Garth Merenghi’s Darkplace. Lowe also co-wrote Ben Wheatley’s 2012 horror comedy film Sightseers, in which she also starred as Tina.

The film, which has its premiere at London’s BFI tonight, follows a pregnant woman called Ruth on a killing spree “that’s as funny as it is vicious,” according to the press release. With her unborn baby dictating her murderous actions, the child speaks to Ruth from the womb, “coaching her to lure and ultimately kill her unsuspecting victims.”

“Struggling with her conscience, loneliness and a strain of prepartum madness, Ruth must ultimately choose between redemption and destruction at the moment of motherhood.” Watch the trailer for Prevenge below and check out a preview of Toydrum’s score, which is released via Geoff Barrow’s Invada Records on February 10.
